Oftentimes, it can be very hard to find that perfect foundation for your specific skin type and skin tone. The key to finding that perfect foundation is knowing what type of skin you have, what foundation formula works best with it, and which brand has the best variety of shades for your skin tone. There are usually 5 main skin types, oily, dry, combination, normal, and sensitive. It is also definitely common to fall under more than one of these categories. There are also different types of foundation, for example, there’s liquid, powder, stick, tinted moisturizer cream, etc. The list goes on and on but these are the main ones that you will find in a beauty store. Now whether you’re looking for a full coverage foundation, a quick powder, or light coverage, there is a foundation for each and every skin type.
From research, and experience, I’ve compiled a list of my top three foundation brands.
- Lancôme 24H Longwear Foundation
After a recent trip to Ulta to find a new foundation, I have absolutely fallen in love with this brand. This foundation is perfect because it starts as light to medium coverage, and you can stop there if you’d like. However, if you’re wanting more coverage, you can easily build this foundation and it doesn’t make your skin look ‘cakey’ or over-done. It gives your skin such a nice, dewy glow, and will still be on your face at the end of the day. I also love this brand because they’re foundation comes in such a wide range of 50 different shades, so you are sure to find that perfect match.
2. Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
This foundation is perfect for all skin types, whether you’re oily, dry, or right in between. Although it is full coverage, they don’t call it luminous and weightless for no reason. I love a good foundation that can provide the perfect amount of coverage without making me look like I’m wearing pounds of makeup and this is it. It lasts all day and is highly pigmented so one drop goes a very long way.
3. Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation
I couldn’t end this list without naming one of the best foundations of all time. This foundation is mainly recommended for combination and oily skin. It is yet another 24-hour foundation that gives you a smooth, flawless, matte finish that lasts all day. It is full coverage and perfect for evening out your skin tone, covering blemishes, and is also buildable in case you’re wanting to go that extra notch. I love this brand because this foundation is offered in…wait for it…55 different shades! It’s got colors for cool undertones, warm undertones, green hints, gold hints, etc. so you are sure to find the perfect shade for you. This foundation is also great in humid weather as it is lightweight making you feel comfortable all day.
These are just a few of the many awesome foundations out there that are suitable for all skin types. At the end of the day, it just takes trial and error in figuring out which foundation you feel and look your best in. Also, if you are ever hesitant to spend the money on a brand new foundation, you can always go into any makeup store and ask for a sample so that you can try it at home before you buy it. Although they are a big investment, they last for so long and are so worth it!
